Elon Musk Shares News on Neuralink Implant Subject

Imagine controlling a computer with just your mind? It’s not that far-fetched, according to Elon Musk after he shared an update on the first human fitted with a Neuralink brain implant.

The 52-year-old technology mogul announced via Twitter last month that an individual had received a brain chip from Neuralink Corporation, and the recipient had demonstrated “promising neuron” activity.

According to an international publication on Tuesday, 20 February, Musk had mentioned that the patient had made a full recovery with “no ill effects” and with good progress.

A study was conducted in which a robot implanted a brain-computer interface via surgery. The device was attached to that motor cortex, the part of the brain that controls movement, thus enabling the individual to operate computers with intentional thoughts.

“The patient is able to move a mouse around the screen by just thinking,” he commented during a Twitter “Spaces” event.

Despite receiving permission to proceed with human trial recruitment for the controversial experiment in September last year, Neuralink has received complaints for its safety measures and not least its flippant founder.

Musk has appeared immune to all criticism, as he has focused his energies on his ambitious goals of having the implant used for the treatment of ailments such as autism, depression, obesity and schizophrenia.
